Can you use ITBs with a turbo?

Can you use ITBs with a turbo?

Yes it can be done.

How much HP can ITBs add?

And the answer is not very simple as it greatly depends on the engine’s size, design, and tuning. For example, there are bigger block American cars that can run an ITB setup and make close to 100 horsepower while smaller four-cylinder engines could make closer to 30 to 50 horsepower at the wheels.

Do you need a tune for ITB?

Re: ITB and tuning the engine To do ITB, ideally, you need a NA1/OBDI car with cable throttle. You will have to buy the ITB and individual injectors. Tuning will be a big issue; you really need to find some one who knows how to tune ITB.

What is ITB engine?

With individual throttle bodies (ITBs), each cylinder gets its own butterfly valve regulating air intake, rather than all cylinders sharing one valve. When you apply throttle to an engine with a single throttle body, air has to travel further to reach each cylinder, slowing response somewhat.

What is the advantage of ITBs?

In an engine with ITBs, atmospheric pressure builds outside each cylinder, so when you open the throttle, air enters instantaneously. ITBs also help reduce pumping losses at partial throttle.

Why are ITBs expensive?

ITB’s tend to be very expensive because of the precision and machining required. On average, they can cost 3-6x more than a single throttle body upgrade. Besides high costs, there are a few other concerns and disadvantages when it comes to ITB’s.

What are the benefits of ITB?

ITBs make it possible to eliminate the intake manifold entirely and improve airflow. The air is able to be sucked into the engine more efficiently, and you can shape the velocity stacks to fit your purpose.

What are the advantages of ITBs?

What is an ITB engine?

ITBs are used with turbo systems in 2 OEM applications, RB26DETT and the SR20 GTiR engine, both Nissan motors. They both however run MAF based loading systems. There are tons of guys that modifiy these engines and I would guess someone has made speed density work with the OEM ITBs.

Do boosted turbos have ITBS?

You just have to have a collector on a boosted application. The RB26 and Blue Bird SR both have ITBs. yes, they would not give you the same sound or looks as the ITB’s you’re used to seeing… well, mainly because you wouldn’t SEE them and the sound would be muffled through the turbo’s/IC’s first

Do you use ITBS with the CNC?

The ITBs have about half of the parts done in the CNC. My car has not even started (or could’ve at this point) with this setup on it. I am trying to solve problems before I get to them, like an engineer should. This problem has been documented by others who did the same (ITBs + Turbo) on multiple engine platforms.

Is there any way to plan a turbo build?

Planning a turbo build without some engine bulletproofing is setting yourself up for failure. At least plan on putting in a set of lower-comp pistons, designed to handle the boost. I don’t care who you are, boosting a naturally aspired motor is always going to leave you with problems.
